“I have just finished my degree at Exeter University in Computer Science, and kept my two horses; Penrose and Mc Laren at UPEC for the last two years of it. The facilities and support at UPEC meant that I have managed to successfully compete Penrose at Intermediate level, and produce Mc Laren from a very green, inexperienced youngster, to a horse that is being placed regularly at Pre-Novice level. At the same time I still managed to get a 2.1 and have a typical student social life! UPEC was a ten minute drive away from campus and, if I was feeling keen, a thirty minute cycle ride. It fitted in perfectly with my lecture time table. Even when I had huge amounts of work, popping over to do my horses was the best anti-stress solution and the lights in the school meant that I could ride late into the evening. Also if I was not able to make it to the yard, I could simply send Ellie a text and she would sort my horses out to the highest standards. I would definitely recommend UPEC as the number one yard for students at Exeter uni, it ticks every box.”  Rebecca Wilkins

“In September I will be starting a course in Business Management at Exeter University. I have chosen to keep my event horse Undulate at Upton Pyne as it is only a ten minute drive from halls. UPEC’s facilities are outstanding, which is essential to my horses training and fitness. After being chosen to be part of the young rider eventing winter training programme, my mare Undulte recorded a double clear at Houghton Hall CCI** and we are entered to run in the advanced at Aston Le Walls. I Really enjoy the fun atmosphere at UPEC and hope that I can hack out and make new friends with fellow students. I hope to compete in the CCI*** U25 championships at Bramhan next spring which wouldn’t be possible without Ellie’s support and fun flexible attitude towards running the yard.”  Sienna Knight Bruce

“I’ve just finished doing my degree at Exeter university and have kept my horse Olivia at Upton Pyne for all 3 years. I was gutted to have to take Olivia home as the facilities at Upton Pyne were amazing, and everyone there was really friendly and kind. There are always people to hack with, and loads going on with lessons and competitions. Thanks to Ellie’s support I’ve progressed loads since being at Upton Pyne, and have been motivated to try lots of new things. When Olivia got injured and went through a lengthy process of trying to find out what was wrong with her, everyone was really supportive. Fortunately, her injury was nothing serious and I can use all that we’ve learnt while being at Upton Pyne to keep on progressing. The yard is an easy drive away from university and was really popular with other students so we could car share when riding together as well which was lovely. I would 100% recommend Upton Pyne to anyone looking for a place to keep their horse, whether they are student or not. I’ve had so much fun there over the last few years, and it’s been the perfect escape for when studying got a bit much. If I’m ever back in Exeter I’ll be going straight to this yard!”    Joanna Bialkowska
